Tonight Ty invited his favorite buddies over to celebrate his turning 9. He wanted an extra special night dedicated just to video games and junk food. So that's what he got.
Shane grilled some burgers for us...Spinach and Fontina, delish!
The boys + Ryli ate pizza, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, m&m's, and popcorn.
(shortly after i took this picture i went to move The Burrow to keep it safe and immediately dropped it into a million teeny tiny lego pieces)
They gamed their little hearts out.
Theo celebrated with a spatula.
I love a houseful.
I also love bedtime.
My almost 9 year is official on Monday. We have a few surprises up our sleeve(s). I'm having a really hard time not spoiling them.
He already knows about this one.

a little gem i found, and a quilt update

i stumbled upon this sewing basket at savers in made my heart skip a beat. it was made in Norway in the 50's
it is exactly what i never knew i always wanted. it definitely falls into my all time top 5 favorite finds. it was tagged at $24.99, i had a coupon and paid $20 for it. i just couldn't leave without it!! my kids are so jealous, they all keep trying to convince me how great it would be to organize their own toys in it. i told Ry it was hers for sewing one day.

deadline: monday

back to blogging

i ran into a storage problem (in that i ran out of memory on picasa for uploading pics), then i got sidetracked for a coupla weeks. i've been doing a lot of brainstorming, and planning, oh, and mothering.

here is what is keeping me so mentally occupied:
a pinwheel for Liz, our quilting bee is 12squared (there is a link to follow us right over there ----->)
i'm trying to cut lots of squares, with my little helper
i've finished cutting all of my colors, just need another yard of white
cutting the triangles
then this guy. he's a project hater, in that, he wants to be my ONLY one.
gosh he's yummy.

trying to get my crochet on

i picked up my crochet hook again, just before Christmas. i decided i really wanted to make a little something for the boss, but he insists on keeping his fingers tangled in my yarn. what's a mom to do...
enlist the help of his adoring sister, that's what.
oh, and his favorite cups.
she is truly amazing with him, and they love each other so much. she is a perfect little built-in babysitter.

After dinner tonight Ryli popped over to say hello to the boss. Lately she has really taken charge of entertaining him. After the boys heard his giggles and squeals of delight they had to come see what all the fuss was about.
They all thought the pacifier on his head was the funniest thing, then he would laugh at their laughter.
They all turn to butter when it comes to this baby. I try to figure out what the dynamic will be like in 5 years. Will Ty still do anything for him? Will Ryli still beg for smiles, and Cannon run to him with one little sign of discomfort? It'll be interesting.
I often long for the days of their infancy. But then I find myself dreaming of the future.
Such is life. A tear is shed for what is past, and smile for the comedy that awaits.
Man, I love these kids.

my little buddy and i shared one. he tried the peel, he loved/hated it. it's always fun to watch a baby shudder at a new texture or taste. i promise i didn't give it to him just to watch him shudder, that wouldn't be very nice. he REALLY wanted it, he practically begged.

the great snow of 2011

school was cancelled yesterday and today, a child's dream come true. i remember desperately wishing for these kinds of days as a school girl.

the reason i love these days is that it means slow mornings and no schedule. it's perectly acceptable to spend all. day. long. in your pajamas. perfectly acceptable if you're the mom, because you're a kid you're dying to get outside and roll up the snowballs.

and this is what we did yesterday.
