a weekend in the life of...

Today held more soccer games. Cannon impressed us with 3 goals, and Ty impressed us with one.
The weather impressed us with indications of the fall season.
We attended a birthday party for Bram, who turns 4 on Monday.
We watched the Hogs lose to the Crimson Tide.
I got to go see a youthful, but light hearted movie tonight with my bestie.
I also got to brush my daughter's hair, cheer for my players, and smooch on my sweet baby.
Tomorrow promises church and a belated family birthday lunch for Shane.

I love my weekends. Our weekends.

There is so much to say about this picture.

Shane has been out of town, and needless to say it's been a challenge.

On a particularly hard evening this weekend we were in the midst of "rush hour" as I like to refer to it. Dinner, baths, bedtime rituals.

I did not have a handle on the situation and Theo was expressing his displeasure in his loudest voice. I had expressed my displeasure in all three of my older children and was feeling pretty desperate, and terrible.

I asked Ty to hold his brother and ran out of the room to tame the madness. After a minute I passed by Ty's room and saw this...then ran for my camera. I had to capture it.

First thing I think of is Shane. I can't tell you how many times I have seen this exact same picture, except Shane is doing to the holding.

Theo is quiet, Ty has a way with him.

I just yelled at Ty for not listening, how could I have done that? Look at his sweetness.

Who cares about time, I have four children.

I wish Shane could see this.

Ty is going to be an amazing father.

These boys are going to be best friends.

We need Shane. We need Shane. We need Shane.

The list goes on and on.

I love this picture.

It quieted my soul, and made me want to say so much.

Super Soccer Saturday

The truth is...girls at this age are just a bit more skilled at soccer than boys. Cannon had a great game, played so hard, but the opposing team had a few girls.
'Nuff said.
They don't keep score at this age anyway, but you know the parents secretly count goals.
My Bubba scored at least one, possibly two. And it was blazing hot outside, just ask the bossman.
After Cannon's game, we raced down to the church, picked up Ty and Ry (who were practicing for the primary program) and readied Ty for his first game of the season.
Again, blazing hot, away game in south Little Rock, GIRLS, and unsuccessful. Ty played his heart out though...and what more can you ask for.
Watching my guys play sports is so much fun. Being a soccer mom is ALL it's cracked up to be.
And now, if mother nature would just have some mercy on us and bring on the fall temps!!

his first friends

tonight, i was trying to get four children to bed. theo needed a little entertainment so i could focus on a few of his siblings. so i introduced him to a some family favorites, Keylion the giraffe and Hurley the turtle.
i gave the animals a voice and his face lit up. his mouth started taking shape, his legs kicking, his arms flailing.
cooing ensued.
i love watching him discover and grow. i already miss these firsts.

Cannon's first soccer game highlights:
By the way, Cannon scored the first goal. Then he scored three more before the game ended. Ty an Ry were sick, so they stayed in the car and watched movies while me and the boss cheered from the sidelines.

What an adorable event!

Anniversary = Reality = Perfect

this is what 10 years of marriage looks like this at my house:
me: un-showered and un-rested @ 3pm
theo: constipated and frustrated with his mom
ty: has the chills and on the brink of a fever
cannon: bored and entertaining himself
ryli: burning up with fever and sad
theo: 8 weeks today. happy now and kicking his little heart out. he's really getting round.
his cowboy boots
an accident caused by yours truly
sue-wee delivered a gift and some treats from Silvek's.
the flowers from my sweetheart.
they really turned my frown upside down.
and since we won't be going anywhere to celebrate tonight, I made a special dinner for us. we fed the kids first, then we dined to the tune of our children's happy squeals. the sound of wedded bliss i tell you.
as soon as we sat down theo expressed his I ate one handed. Shane cut my steak into bites for me. small, child sized bites because it comes naturally to him.

now, the children are tucked in. theo is swinging away. dessert was thoroughly enjoyed, and i'm off to take a hot bath so i can snuggle up next to my sweetheart and reflect on the last 10 years...
i love my life, seriously.

Theo is blessed!

Today Shane blessed Theo. So many sweet things were said. Theo was outfitted in his Poppa's christening gown...Poppa wore this over 55 years ago. Ryli wore it for her blessing too.
I am thankful for my husband, and that he blesses our children. I'm thankful that Theo was content for his moment. I'm thankful for the five righteous men that placed their hands on my baby. The spirit was strong, the blessings abundant. The tears did flow. My children have one more reason to feel proud of their father. He is quite an example.
