8 years ago today...

I became a mother. One of the most important days of my life.

This year his birthday fell on a Sunday. We had our family celebration at Sue-wee's.

Ty has a special aversion to cake and frosting, thus he gets birthday brownies.

We came home with full bellies, only to open more presents.
They stayed pretty busy for the rest of the afternoon.

I loaded up the new Indiana Jones Lego game that I, I mean Ty, got from me, I mean, us.

8 is a big year for him.

I'm not sure I'm ready for these milestones.

Although, watching his mind develop is one of the most impressive gifts I've been given. I can't get enough.

Little does he know, he's getting all of the presents...but I'm the lucky one.

Happy Birthday Ty, you never cease...

snow can't stop us

The day before Ty's birthday he wanted to bowl with his friends.
Mother Nature had other plans, she dumped some snow.

Having spent some time in Colorado and Utah, we weren't influenced to cancel the plans.

Thankfully, neither were our friends.

Almost everyone showed up. We were grateful.

snow in the south

we got some snow, just a little. the kids had to explore.

what they found....a feisty middle child with a mean snowball throwing arm. the boys weren't happy with her.
i happen to think she's just holding her own. it's hard to be the only girl. poor boys.

snow angels were a must.

Girl Crazy

Tonight we grabbed some Larry's, then went to the library for an American Girl party.
Whoa. My boys got more than they bargained for. Apparently, so did a lot of dads.
Ryli was in heaven. We ran into a lot of friends, and the girls loved showing off their prize possessions. Ryli brought both of her girls Liliana and Aliso (pronounced Alyssa), and Cannon brought his boy, Luke.
There were snacks, games, crafts.....and lots of screaming girls.
Shane had to leave me for the Young Men, it was painful.

I opted out about 15 minutes early, Ryli was not happy with me.

I couldn't handle the screaming anymore, or the boys playing chase in the middle of all of the madness.

Sir Cannon

We celebrated Cannon's 4th with the family.
Of course his pick for dinner was pizza, Sue-wee obliged the rest of us with meatballs and pasta...and perhaps, the most delicious salad I've ever had.
Bubba's pick for dessert was quite specific, a chocolate cake, with chocolate frosting in between and all around. Brown sprinkles on top, and chocolate chips around the top, middle, and bottom. And, he got it. Complete with a personalized knight on top.

He was quite pleased with all that was gifted to him.
Blake and Heather made it down from NWA too. The kids were SO excited to see them!

We sure do love this Bubba...
