a cheesy testimony

Tonight Ryli volunteered to say our bedtime prayer. Right before closing she bore her testimony of string cheese-

"Heavenly Father, I'm so thankful for string cheese. I'm thankful that I tried it today for the first time. I'm thankful that it is so yummy to eat and so healthy for my body. It's also really fun to play with."
(close prayer)

After a rather intense evening and a late bedtime, a little Ryli-ness really hits the spot!

ahhh kingsbridge, a random critique

I just finished reading The Pillars Of the Earth by Ken Follett. I have to say I am quite inspired to learn more of something I never thought I would...the Middle Ages. So my critique is as follows: beautiful love story, fascinating setting, aside from a few explicit words and scenes (not recommended for the conservative reader) the length of the book was hardly noticeable. That is, all 973 pages. Yes, it's the longest book I've ever read (patting myself on the back). It took me a whole month to read, the first two weeks I waded through the first 200 hundred pages but the last 773 pages went by fairly quick and were fantastic!
So if you're looking for a good entertaining read and 12th century England/religious scandal sounds interesting give it a try. (but you didn't hear it from me...)

ryli's night

Ryli had her recital on Friday. It was a great night, here are some pictures:
Mr. Joel and the girls, Mr. Joel owns the dance studio, I took from him when I was little!

The girls and Mr. Ben their teacher, he is an amazing tap dancer. He did a solo in the recital in a tux with no music, it was fantastic! Ryli really loves him.

Right after intermission we were able to go get Ry and bring her out to watch the other performances, her Daddy gave her flowers. She was so excited, she carried them around like a trophy all night!

We were all so proud of her!

What can I say...she is an amazing daughter. I went to the dressing room to pick her up and I found her standing in front of the mirror spraying her hair with more hair spray, she asked when her next recital was. I loved it:)

a dressy rehearsal...

Wednesday night we had Ryli's dress rehearsal for her very first dance recital...the experience was flawless! As Ry sat in awe of the huge stage she would soon be lighting up, I had a moment of adoration. I have them frequently as a mother, but this time it was really special. I had performed on this same stage several times years ago and I remember the same feelings. Ryli was absolutely glowing, her eyes were huge, she had that sweet little half smile, and her face was twinkling with sparkles from the make-up. I wondered for a split second if she would feel intimidated by the vastness of the auditorium and then I snapped out of it. Her group was called up to practice and she ran up on the stage without me. I felt like I needed to go with her, and then I realized she didn't NEED me.
My little girl is becoming so independent, and I have never been more proud. She loves being on stage and performing, she will do great always...
The dance was pretty darn cute too, exactly what you would expect from first-timers! Ryli and her very best dance friend Lauren

my friends are the coolest

I found a curious package on my doorstep today. It was addressed to me and it was from Carbondale Illinios, which oddly enough is a place that Shane has visited recently for P.R. purposes. Anyhoo, I wondered for a moment who and why -I opened it, and found this...

As I said before, my friends are the coolest! Thanks Em, I needed a smile today!

he wears a "G"

I've decided to forgo the usage of the landfill enemy - disposable diapers. Cannon is now a G-boy and very excited about it I have to say! He calls them his panties...FABULOUS! He prefers the orange g to the cream colored g, we need to order a few more colors so the kid can start coordinating his outfits appropriately, don't ya think? They are absolutely adorable on an already so adorable little tush!!

*Plug* -we have had a great experience so far and I would highly recommend G diapers to anyone interested, one of my favorite benefits is the instant removal of the DIRTY diaper by a flush of the potty! No more stinky garbage cans! find out more here

*Plug #2* - the starter packs were on sale at Whole Foods from $25 down to $16...maybe they still are:)
